The Glorietta Bay Inn is renowned for its historical significance as the Spreckles Mansion. John Dietrich Spreckles was a very prominent figure in establishing San Diego’s foundation of prosperity and national & international commerce. With accomplishments such as purchasing the utility company, street car system, water company, and establishing the San Diego & Arizona Eastern railroad, it’s safe to say that the Spreckles name holds great importance.
We were tasked with redesigning the guestrooms at The Glorietta Bay Inn. With projects such as this one, it’s extremely important to pay homage to the original design while giving it a renewed sense of life. We faced the unique challenge of redesigning the rooms simultaneously; this was significant because we needed to use all standard running line products and make sure they worked within the confines of the existing space – all of this while avoiding disrupting the hotel environment. The rooms turned out beautifully. The Glorietta Bay Inn was incredibly pleased with the final product. We were able to give the rooms a fresh look without compromising their historical integrity.
